1. Find the folder where Steam installed GW2 (usually under the Steam folder steamapps > common > Guild Wars 2. 2. Launch GW2 with the file: Gw2-64.exe. 3. If you are have a regular account, type in your username and password. If you have a Steam account, there should be a Steam Button for login. See if that works. McAfee for example was a problem years ago and would crash GW2. As a potential workaround, you could try using Gw2Launcher, which can run its own patch server. At the very least, it'll either show what GW2 is downloading or show nothing because GW2 can't connect at all (blocked).
Open folder user>appdata>roaming>gw2 and delete everything there. This will remove your settings ingame and saved username and password but it takes 2min to set them back. Open cmd admin mode. Type "ipconfig /release" "ipconfig /renew" and "ipconfig /flushdns". Also try turning off the firewall and trying.

A few tries of this usually fixes it. Last edited by Turin ; Aug 24, 2022 @ 7:55am. #2. Cos Aug 24, 2022 @ 7:48am. From the normal client you should also be able to run: Gw2-64.exe -repair. Which will check the entire game data set and redownload anything it finds that deviates from the expected result. #3.

Started Steam itself (not the game) and had to re-log into Steam for some reason with a verification code. Then started the game from the Steam library and it is now working.

Connection Issues . Was in a Ranked PvP match and everyone stopped moving, couldn't type in chat. Guild Wars 2 MMORPG Role-playing video game MMO Gaming comments

Guild wars 2 probably has the worst netcode and is most sensitive to lag compared to any other game. Try using a VPN. I don't think it is just ping, the game also uses a ton of bandwidth and if you have low bandwidth everything will just stop. Try using a VPN server in Dallas as that is where they are located I believe.

Shift click the GW2 shortcut and select properties. Under target add -clientport 80 to the end of gw2.exe. It should look something like this: "C:\GW2\Gw2.exe -clientport 80". Clientport 80 uses the same port as web browsers and ISPs are less likely to slow down that port.
