The Brutus armor looks like something from a high fantasy legendary wizard's wardrobe. In other words, it's too epic and clumsy looking for an assassin. Brutus' armor is cool but Altair's is way more "assassin-ish", so I prefer Altair's. I didn't really expect this much dissent of opinion.
Actually, the entire set has the same final stats as the full Altair's Armor set. The only differences, as stated, you can't dye Altair's armor but you never need to repair it. If you don't like the black color, use the other set since you can dye it. Besides, money is never a problem end-game.

No, the Armor of Altair is only in AC II, and the beginning of Brotherhood. This is the only outfit Altair wears throughout the entirety of the first game.
